Firefox OS (project name Boot to Gecko/b2g) the next big operating system for mobile phones was a linux based operating system for mobile and tablet computers.
The initial development work involves three major software layers: Gonk,Gecko and Html 5 layer which includes the Gaia user-interface

 Firefox os just got launched in Spain  last July 1ST of 2013 and it was under ZTE and ALCATEL with telecom operator Telefónica

   The ZTE Open offers customers a smartphone experience at an incredible price point, making it ideal for cost conscious consumers or those looking to upgrade to a smartphone for the first time.
The smartphone features a 3.5-­‐inch, HVGA TFT touchscreen display and has 256MB RAM and 512MB ROM combined with a 3.2MP camera. A 4GB microSD card is also included. Further, the smartphone offers messaging, email, calendar, FM radio, camera with built‐in style filters, location‐based services from Nokia HERE maps and browsing via the Firefox Web browser.
In addition the buyers will also benefit from access to global and local apps through the Firefox Marketplace. Content partners supporting Firefox OS include EL PAÍS, La Caixa, AS, eBay, Badoo, Terra, Telepizza, KAYAK, The Weather Channel, TMZ, AOL, Wikipedia, CNNMoney, Huffington Post, TIME and Tuenti.
This list of apps join existing apps including Facebook, MTV Brasil, Airbnb, Time Out, Twitter and SoundCloud. ZTE Open smartphone is said to go on sale at a price tag of $90 (approx. Rs 5,400).

Alcatel one touch fire
  On the other hand, another pilot smartphone to feature the Mozilla Firefox OS, is Alcatel One Touch Fire, which is claimed by the company to be an easy-to-choose, easy-to-use smartphone in a range of seven bright colours and a compact, pocket-friendly design.
This entry-level smartphone touts a 3.5 inch HVGA TN display, 3.2 Megapixel camera, 1GHz processor along with Light sensor and Proximity sensor. Featuring the popular Firefox web browser Alcatel One Touch Fire boasts a dimension of 115 x 62.3 x 12.2 mm; has 512MB of internal memory and 256MB RAM.
Other features include, 3G data up to 7.2Mbps DL and 5.76Mbps UL, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, AGPS, G-sensor, Stereo FM, Bluetooth 3.0 A2DP, Micro SD card support up to 32GB and 1400 mAh battery. In the box, the company is also providing Charger head and Micro USB cable, 3.5 jack stereo headset and a 2GB Micro SD card. The smartphone will hit the market via Deutsche Teleko and will come with a similar $90 price tag.
